SecurOS Deployed at Cape May City

Cape May, NJ, July 1, 2008 - ISS added another safe municipality during the summer with Cape May City deploying the ISS SecurOS video management system. Cape May City approached ISS integrator, MTS with a series of complex, independent surveillance requirements. The solution was a fully-integrated, distributed surveillance architecture throughout the City responsive to several departments within the municipality. Included in the requirements were police station and substation integrated video, audio, and panic alarms; strategically placed community surveillance at remote locations; mobile video surveillance needs; and streaming video for the promotion of tourism. Key aspects of the system were:

  • Digital Video Surveillance featuring ISS SecurOS
  • Night Vision Cameras
  • Virtual Private Networking
  • Integrated audio with video
  • Two-way audio communications
  • 5.8 GHz LOS Microwave Radio links
  • 5.8 GHz Wireless access point with short range client
  • MPEG encoders for RF cameras
  • PTZ control throughout network
  • Event Management

MTS designed and implemented a single, integrated, intelligent security architecture that fulfilled all requirements across multiple organizations.
Leveraging municipality-owned infrastructure, the Internet, and terrain conducive to line of sight (LOS) radios, the deployment contained a distributed server architecture that permitted monitoring of all cameras from police HQ dispatch and high resolution, high frame rate recording at various locations via the distributed servers. Objectives and final result of the solution were:

Surveillance at key locations throughout the community

  • Ability to manage and monitor remotely
  • Self-contained remote equipment station for RF links
  • Tourism cameras have web server access with portal to www.capemaycity.com
  • System monitored by MTS via secure network connection and event management tools
