VMS Is Not Enough: ISS Reports Increase Worldwide Demand for All-in-One Approach

Woodbridge, NJ—May 9, 2012 There has been increased worldwide demand for the all-in-one approach of SecurOS solutions from Intelligent Security Systems (ISS). “We have been at security shows all over the world in the first few months of 2012,” said Aluisio Figueiredo, Chief Operating Officer of ISS. “What we’re finding is an universal experience for customers and integrators: Video Management Services (VMS) is something that is becoming increasingly commoditized, and there is a great desire for value-adds beyond that. Quite simply, people are tired of being nickled and dimed to death for VMS when their needs have grown quite expansive. We have been ready for this day for a long time, and our long list of other solutions, including analytics, is custom fit for these needs.” SecurOS Solutions include, besides VMS, License Plate Recognition (LPR), Cargo Recognition, Facial Capture and Recognition, and a host of traffic solutions beyond LPR such as traffic devices for counting vehicles and incident detection. They have a very wide range of customers, in areas such as transportation, retail, banking, colleges, industry, and urban surveillance.

From the MIPS show in Moscow, ISS sales executives Peter Pirogov and Evgeny Malikov both reported that there is increased demand for the Safe City solutions of ISS. At ISC Brazil, Sales Director Alexandre Nastro said that the call for SecurOS traffic solutions continues to grow, and that the ability to monitor lane safety has made a difference in reducing traffic accidents. He said, “People know now that if they are speeding or driving unsafely that they will be fined, and this is forcing drivers to be more careful.”

At Exposeguridad in Mexico, ISS sales executives Arlen Encarnacion and Sergio Brieba both commented on how SecurOS Facial Recognition solutions are making the subways, a noted area for assaults and robberies, safer. “If someone with a bad history enters the subway system, their facial image triggers an alert,” said Encarnacion. Added Brieba, “In this way, they are able to keep problematic individuals out of the subway system and everyone has more peace of mind.” At ISC West in Las Vegas, Figueiredo confirmed that their all-in-one approach was a big draw.

“Vendors who are only offering VMS or a very limited number of other solutions are quickly finding that their appeal is falling off sharply,” said Figueiredo. “We offer a complete range of solutions, a true open platform, and the ability to start at the smallest possible level, with SecurOS Lite, which is free, and move all the way up to SecurOS Enterprise seamlessly. In an economy where customers continue to exercise caution with their security purchases, our ability to help them maximize those investments is crucial. It’s ‘grow or go’, as they say, and we are finding that the value adds SecurOS offers are making a real difference for our worldwide customer base.”

SecurOS 7.0 has a universal "driver" that allows cameras that may not have yet integrated SecurOS software to be connected and provide video support for the devices via RTP / RTSP. It makes no restrictions on the number and range of IP devices that can be supported, including video analytics functions. The number of supported cameras is very wide and continues to grow.
